Winter storm watch to begin late tonight

A winter storm watch will be in effect from late tonight through Thursday afternoon in Dickinson and Menominee counties, with heavy mixed precipitation possible, the National Weather Service said.

Total snow and sleet accumulations between 2 and 5 inches and ice accumulations up to 0.2 inches are possible, forecasters said.

According to AccuWeather, a swath of moderate to heavy snow is forecast from central South Dakota through southwestern, central and northeastern Minnesota to northwestern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula.

The storm is expected to move tonight and Thursday across the northern Great Lakes.

Temperatures will fall to about 26 today night while Thursday’s predicted high is 39.

Friday should be partly sunny, but the forecast calls for rain, snow and freezing rain beginning Friday night extending into Saturday. The overnight low Friday is expected to be 29 with a high Saturday of 40.

The forecast for Easter Sunday is mostly sunny, with a high near 40.
