NORWAY — For Allen Painting & Decorating, community support is more than words — it’s action.

Owner Mark Allen and his team recently gave the concession stand and press box at the Marion Park complex in Norway a much-needed makeover.

The longtime supporter of the Norway Diamonds donated its time and expertise to repaint the aging buildings, which had likely not been done in more than 20 years.

Years of wear and weather had taken a toll on the structure, making the update especially meaningful for the organization that maintains the complex, Norway Diamonds Concessions and Advertising Amanda Meneghini said.

The project, completed May 4, created a brighter, more welcoming space for players, families and fans.

Meneghini noted the press box windows were replaced last year and the concession stand windows this year. “It was time for a refresh,” she said, adding they preserved artwork local resident Ryan Erkkila did in 2001.

“Projects like this don’t happen without a strong sense of pride and commitment to the community,” Meneghini said. “It reflects the kind of partnership and support that helps keep our programs thriving.”

Allen’s contribution to the organization goes beyond a new coat of paint.

“By helping reduce costs in one area, it gives us the opportunity to improve facilities, invest in additional upgrades, and continue enhancing the overall experience for everyone who uses the complex,” she said. “Contributions like his have a lasting impact and help make future improvements possible.”

Allen, a lifelong resident of the area, has deep roots in local sports. From playing as a youth to coaching and now supporting teams as a business owner and fan, his connection to the community runs deep. He and his team are grateful for the continued support from their loyal customers and local organizations and booster clubs who helped the business succeed, and are proud to give back in return.

The Norway Diamonds organization is a small, dedicated non-profit volunteer group made up of six members who serve as caretakers of the fields at Marion Park. The mission is to maintain, improve and enhance the facilities for the athletes, families and community members each season.

“We work to instill pride in our facilities through our coaches, players and other volunteers who help our group on projects each year,” Meneghini said. “Though small in number, we are a passionate and hardworking team of volunteers committed to continually improving the complex.”

Projects the group completed include scoreboard sign updates, installing infield warning tracks, dugout improvements on Mike Maule Field, additions of field conditioner, and many other ongoing enhancements aimed at keeping the complex safe, functional and welcoming.

“We are incredibly grateful for their continued support over the years, and especially for this recent contribution,” Meneghini said. “It’s businesses like Allen Painting & Decorating that truly make a lasting difference, and we’re proud to have them as part of our community.”
