Florence names top 10% in Class of 2026

Jackson Korff

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Florence County School District has announced its top 10% for the Class of 2026.

They are:

— Jackson Korff of Florence, son of Justin and Devon Korff, is valedictorian with a 4.0 grade-point average. His academic awards include superior honor roll, perfect attendance, Spanish National Honor Society and best in class in all his math, science, English, and history courses.

Korff is president of the student council and National Honor Society. He is the co-chair of TORPEDOs, where he completed 125-plus volunteer hours. He has won two state forensics gold medals, a silver and a bronze throughout his four years. In SkillsUSA he was a four-year member, two years as president, and won a bronze medal at state for Robotics, a bronze and a silver in Job Skill Demonstration and a silver in Additive Manufacturing. He participated as well in Hi-Q and drama.

This summer will be his fifth and final year of being a Youth Leader at the Food Fun and Fitness summer program.

Madison Aubuchon

Korff plans to pursue a mechanical engineering degree, with a possible double major in aerospace engineering, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

— Madison R. AuBuchon of Aurora, Wis., daughter of Rose and David AuBuchon, is salutatorian. Academic honors she has earned include high honors freshman through junior year and honors during her senior year.

She participated in student council during freshman and sophomore years.

Through classes at the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District, she discovered a passion for working in education. AuBuchon has been a teacher assistant, along with pursuing advanced courses through University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, Bay College and Educere Virtual Education. She has completed CPR training, Paraeducator Boot Camp Certification, and Health and Safety training through Michigan Virtual.

Outside of school, AuBuchon enjoys reading, crocheting, cooking and staying active at the gym.

Samantha DeMuri

AuBuchon plans to complete the behavioral technician training program at UW-Green Bay and continue into the workforce as a registered behavior technician working with special needs children.

— Samantha DeMuri of Florence, daughter of Jeff and Kit DeMuri, is ranked third in her class. She consistently made the honor roll throughout her four years of high school.

She was a two-year member of TORPEDOs and a one-year member of student council. A highlight of her senior year has been serving as a resident assistant through Northwoods Youth Apprenticeship Program.

DeMuri played varsity softball and volleyball all four years. She was a captain on both teams her senior year. She earned many athletic awards, including offensive player of the year her junior year for softball and most improved player her sophomore year for volleyball, along with numerous conference awards.

DeMuri plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Kanyon Lewis

— Kanyon Lewis of Florence is the son of Shelby Lewis. He has earned honor roll recognition and varsity golf letters throughout high school.

Lewis is involved in student council, SkillsUSA and golf.

In his free time, he enjoys golfing, spending time with friends, working, playing games and being with his younger brothers at home.

Lewis plans to pursue mortuary science and build a career in the funeral industry.

— Jaelyn Gearhart of Florence and Hermansville is the daughter of Codi Gearhart and Michael Pragacz. She has made many appearances on the honor roll, along with high honors.

Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her animals, being outdoors, cooking and being with friends and family.

Gearhart aims to be in a medical field, though her plans are still being formed.

Florence County High School will host graduation for 21 seniors at 7 p.m. Friday in the high school gymnasium.
