IRON MOUNTAIN — Holly DeGroot has returned as a local business owner, officially turning her pop-up women’s clothing boutique, Revival, into a permanent location May 1.

DeGroot previously operated Bijou Lovely from 2017 to the beginning of 2024 in the same building at 310 S. Stephenson Ave. in downtown Iron Mountain. At the time she was also operating Revival and Revisions in Marquette.

DeGroot explained that when she closed Bijou Lovely, she was at a transition in her life after becoming a new mom.

“I just had a baby and my life was changing a lot, so it was just hard at the time to run two stores,” she said.

“Revival was the one that made the most sense to me moving forward, the one I was most passionate about,” DeGroot said.

At the end of last year, due to a number of factors, she made the decision to close her Revival store in Marquette and move to Iron Mountain. To test the waters, she operated a pop-up shop in November. In January, they began moving things from Marquette.

First she did some work to refresh the interior of the 1889-built former Chicago and North Western Railway depot she’d owned since 2015.

Revival’s official grand opening in downtown Iron Mountain was May 1-2. “I had a good response,” DeGroot said.

“We focus on timeless, versatile pieces for women living real lives, things that are easy to wear, things you can mix and match. We sell clothing, shoes, jewelry, clothing accessories, some gift items as well,” she said. “I’m picky about what brands I carry. I want things that are high quality and a good value for the price. I have my favorite brands now.”

They are slowly expanding their offerings. They just recently received a shipment of shoes, and they have Kendra Scott jewelry, gift items such as candles and books, self-care items, some cards and stationery.

One type of merchandise DeGroot intends to stock more of is plus sizes.

“There is definitely a demand for that. I feel like in Marquette there were other options so we didn’t have as many people looking for those items, but people are definitely looking for that and asking about it,” she said.

She believes the store name, which came from the former owner, reflects the idea of women who are not sure of their styles anymore. They are seeking pieces that work for their lifestyle now instead of in the past.

“We try to build up their self-esteem through clothing, so I feel like the name kind of goes along with that — reviving yourself,” DeGroot said.

The store is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. She may expand the hours after she hires more employees.

They can be available outside those hours by contacting hello@shoprevival.com. Everything in the shop also is available on their online store at shoprevival.com and can be shipped to the store.

DeGroot plans to do a lot of community events, so she said those interested should go to their website or Facebook page frequently. They also show new items on their Instagram account @shoprevival.com.
