Soo Line Steam Engine 730 Authority golf scramble Thursday

ESCANABA — Team registrations are still being accepted for the fifth-annual Gladstone Michigan Soo Line Steam Engine 730 Authority four-person, 18-hole Golf Scramble set for Thursday at the Escanaba Country Club.

The entry fee is $380 per four-person team. The tournament format is an 18-hole scramble, and the entry fee includes green fees and dinner. A handgun will be raffled off, plus a 50/50 raffle and a chance to win a brand new Jeep Liberty Compass compliments of O’Connors Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Pickford for a Hole in One on the 13th green, plus other prize packages on the remaining par three holes.

Dinner will be served about 4 p.m. Eastern time and the public is invited to join them. Members of the public are asked to call ahead if they wish to dine with them; meal tickets will be available at the door. The tournament will have a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Eastern time, with late registration at 10 a.m. The awards ceremony and raffle winners will be announced immediately following the tournament’s completion. All Upper Peninsula golfers and families of Soo Line retirees are encouraged to sign up and join us.

Proceeds from this Golf Scramble go to the continued perpetual care of Soo Line Steam Engine 730 and the preservation of other historical railroad artifacts to be added and displayed in a planned history center and museum building.

This year’s tournament is co-hosted by Charity Golf and the Community Foundation for Delta County with all funding being turned over to them. Registration is open now online at Charitygolftoday.com/gladstonesoo.

The authority is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that is also seeking additional donations to help support the golf outing. Companies or individuals are welcome to donate items as raffle prizes.
