Breitung board pleased with superintendent pick

Aaron Yonke

KINGSFORD — Breitung Township Schools Superintendent Aaron Yonke received a rating of Effective for the 2025-26 academic year as the Board of Education completed an annual performance evaluation.

“The Board of Education is very pleased with Superintendent Yonke’s performance especially given that this is his first year as superintendent,” Angela Hall, Board of Education president, said in a news release. “Superintendent Yonke shows great promise and we are confident he will lead our school district with integrity and a clear vision for our future,” she said.

“I am honored to serve the Breitung Township Schools and grateful for the continued support and partnership of our Board of Education,” Yonke stated in the release. “This evaluation is a reflection of the hard work and commitment of our entire team of educators, support staff, and administrators. We have achieved a great deal together, and I remain focused on building upon this success to ensure every student reaches their full potential.”

Yonke was serving as Kingsford High School assistant principal when he was selected in May 2025 to succeed David Holmes, who retired at the end of June. Before becoming assistant principal at KHS, he spent 14 years in the classroom as a secondary social studies teacher. In addition, he was a coach/advisor for several extracurricular programs.
