Daily News Student of the Year
Norway High School graduate Ashley Carlson receives a $1,000 scholarship from The Daily News General Manager/Advertising Director Denise Lind after being chosen as the newspaper’s Student of the Year for 2026. “Reading the applications and accomplishments of these students is both inspiring and humbling. Their commitment to academics, leadership, service and personal growth demonstrates the bright future ahead for our communities,” Lind said. “On behalf of everyone at The Daily News, congratulations to our Student of the Year winner and all of this year’s scholarship recipients. We are honored to support these exceptional young people as they pursue their next chapter.” Carlson, daughter of Grant and Lisa Carlson, was in the top 10% of her class. She plans to pursue a degree in human biology and pre-medicine at Michigan State University in the fall. (Terri Castelaz/Daily News photo)
