Beginner pickleball classes offered in Florence
FLORENCE, Wis. — Pickleball is a great way to be physically active, using skills similar to those of tennis, badminton and table tennis.
Introduction to pickleball classes will be offered in Florence County at the courts near the Florence County High School track from 9 to 10 a.m. on Mondays, July 6, 13, 20 and 27, weather permitting.
These classes are for individuals age 15 and older. Open court pickleball will also be held after class, beginning at 10 a.m., for anyone interested. The lessons are taught by the county’s public health nurse at a 2.5 level; therefore, they are for novices or those new to pickleball. Pickleball paddles are provided for use during the classes.
To sign up, call Sidnie Graff, the public health nurse, at the Florence County Health Department at 715-528-3427. Class size is limited to eight and is on a first-come, first-served basis. A $5 donation per class is encouraged to support program supplies going forward, but is not required to participate.
The health department is on the second floor of the Florence County Courthouse, 501 Lake Ave., and is open Monday through Thursday and by appointment.
