Sault Ste. Marie shooting incident leaves one dead
SAULT STE. MARIE — An apparent domestic dispute in Sault Ste. Marie on Thursday left one person dead and a second injured from flying glass, police said.
Officers were called about 1:40 p.m. Thursday to a residence on Young Street on reports of multiple gunshots fired, according to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department. While officers were enroute, they were advised that a man had shot himself, the department stated in a news release.
Police determined a domestic dispute had led up to a man shooting at a neighboring residence several times, leaving an occupant with minor injuries from flying glass. No other suspects or injuries were reported.
The investigation found the apparent shooter had returned to his residence, where he turned the gun on himself. He was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital but later died of his injuries.
No names or additional information were available.
