MARQUETTE -- A pair of popular Marquette-based art fairs will take place this weekend.
The 66th-annual Art on the Rocks Fine Art Show and the Outback Art Fair, in its 32nd year, are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. Art on the Rocks, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, takes place in the Mattson Lower Harbor Park; while Outback is set for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday along the bike path at Picnic Rocks in Shiras Park.
Art on the Rocks is a juried fine art fair and includes more than 100 artist booths featuring local, regional and national artists presenting and selling artwork representing a wide variety of both 2-D and 3-D media, including painting, drawing, wood, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, fiber, glass and more.
In addition to artist booths, Art on the Rocks partners with the Northern Michigan University Student Art League to host Pebble Corner free art activities for the young and young at heart. SAL will also have a tent with artist booths featuring work by their membership.
Outback includes dozens of artists in booths along the bike path. In addition, visitors will find food trucks and sites to purchase Kettle Korn and Nuts Girlie Pops.
Both fairs combine to provide outstanding art and artists for visitors to review and are free to attend.
