BDP Chamber to host annual Community Picnic on Saturday

PEMBINE, Wis. -- The Beecher-Dunbar-Pembine Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Community Picnic from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Pembine Legion Park, offering a full afternoon of family activities.
"The picnic has been a long-time returning event that the community looks forward to every year," said Courtney Shafron, BDP Chamber of Commerce treasurer/secretary. "We are excited to keep the tradition going."
One of the day's featured attractions will be the popular horse pulls, scheduled to begin at about 1 p.m.
"The horse pulls are a big draw -- everyone just loves them," Shafron said. "The lineup is ready to go for a fun afternoon of competition."
Visitors can also browse the Craft Fair, which will feature a variety of handmade items and local vendors. Vendor space remains available for anyone interested in participating.
The Preserve at Birchies Place will raffle a PlayStation 5 as a fundraiser during the event, she said.
The chamber will conduct several basket raffles, featuring a variety of prizes, including a snowblower, pressure washer, patio set, jewelry, tool sets, overnight stays, golf packages, lottery tickets and many other items.
"We have some great prizes this year, along with baskets for the children," Shafron said.
In addition, eight pistol raffles will take place throughout the day. Participants must comply with all Wisconsin firearm laws, and all winners will be subject to the required background check through Pembine Pawn and Gun.
All raffle winners will be drawn at 5 p.m. Winners do not need to be present to claim their prizes.
The Beecher-Dunbar-Pembine High School Class of 2028 will host bingo from 1 to 3 p.m.
Organizers noted that the bag tournament will not take place this year because the volunteer who normally coordinates the event was unavailable.
Children will have plenty to enjoy throughout the afternoon, from bounce houses to a variety of games with prizes awarded. All games will be only 25 cents to play.
"We will also have a Bubble Station set up for them to enjoy," Shafron said.
Free face painting will be offered by D's Creative Faces all day at the park for kids.
Several local food trucks and community organization, including BDP classes and Pembine Area Christians, will be on site to offer a wide variety of food and beverages.
The Lady Patriots basketball team will sell fresh lemonade as a fundraiser.
Frog Country Radio will provide music throughout the day and broadcast live from the park.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, although a limited number of picnic tables will be available. Ample parking will be provided, with signs directing visitors to the park.
After the picnic, the Silver Dollar Bar will host an after-party featuring karaoke.
The chamber is still seeking volunteers to assist with various activities throughout the day and continues to accept donations for the raffle.

"Everyone is welcome to attend -- you don't have to be from the Pembine area," Shafron said.
All proceeds from the annual picnic are reinvested into local events and projects, including the community fireworks display and other activities sponsored by the Beecher-Dunbar-Pembine Chamber of Commerce throughout the year, Shafron said.
