MENOMINEE -- A Menominee Township man faces felony assault with intent to murder and other charges after authorities accused him of shooting a firearm at another person during an argument about cutting grass.
Anthony Raymond Mech, 57, was arraigned Monday before 95th District Court Judge Robert Jamo at the Menominee County Courthouse. The charges are assault with intent to commit murder, felony firearms, felon in possession of firearms and felon in possession of ammunition, according to a news release from the Menominee County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's deputies arrested Mech on Saturday after being called to a Menominee Township residence on a report that an individual had fired at another person during a dispute over cutting grass, according to the news release.
At the time the news release was sent, Mech remained in the Menominee County Jail on a $5,000 cash/surety bond.
A probable cause conference has been set for 3:45 p.m. Aug. 10.
The Menominee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Menominee City Police Department, the Michigan State Police, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Menominee County 911.
