One killed, one injured in Menominee UTV crash

One person was killed and another injured in a UTV crash in Menominee Township on Tuesday night, according to the Menominee County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called at about 7:52 p.m. Tuesday to an area south of the intersection of County Road 577 and Birch Creek No. 6 Road.

The driver, who had been ejected from the vehicle, was declared dead on site. A passenger was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, but the sheriff's office says speed and alcohol are believed to have been factors.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information that could assist investigators is asked to contact the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office at 906-863-4441. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers of Marinette and Menominee County.

Assisting were the Michigan State Police, Menominee Police Department, Menominee-Ingallston Volunteer Fire Department, Bay Area Paramedics, Marinette County Medical Examiner's Office, Menominee County Road Commission, Ultimate Towing and Recovery, and Menominee County 911.
