The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information from a possible additional witness to a fatal crash Sunday afternoon involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Carlshend Road in Skandia Township.

Lisa Smale, 59, of Christmas, a passenger on the motorcycle, was pronounced dead after the 1:40 p.m. Eastern time crash, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

The male driver of the motorcycle was seriously injured and taken to Upper Peninsula Health System-Marquette, though his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. The occupants of the pickup truck were not injured.

“If you, or someone you know, was a witness to this incident, please contact the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office at 906-225-8435,” the sheriff’s office said.

The pickup truck was westbound on M-94 when it collided at the intersection with the southbound motorcycle, according to the sheriff’s office. The investigation is ongoing.

“The members of the sheriff’s office extend their condolences to Lisa’s family and friends,” the news release stated.
