Callie Barr has won the Democratic nomination for U.S. House in Michigan’s 1st Congressional District, the Associated Press announced.
Barr, of Traverse City, will challenge incumbent Rep. Jack Bergman, R-Watersmeet, in the Nov. 3 general election.
The AP’s announcement came as results showed Barr collecting about 58.5% of the district’s Democratic vote with more than half the ballots counted. Kyle Blomquist of Iron Mountain trailed with 35.5% support while Wayne Stiles of Traverse City was showing 6%.
Bergman had 74% support against two Republican challengers.
The AP tabbed John James as winning the Republican nomination for governor in Michigan while Jocelyn Benson secured the Democratic nomination.
