MARINETTE, Wis. -- A Crivitz, Wis., man died after the motorcycle he was operating struck a deer and crashed Wednesday night in the Town of Stephenson.
Marinette County Dispatch was notified at 8:06 p.m. of the crash on Newton Lake Road near South Zak Lane, Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller reported in a news release.
An investigation indicated Frank A. Laes, 63, was northbound on Newton Lake Road when his motorcycle collided with the deer and went into the ditch. Laes, who was not wearing a helmet, later died from his injuries, Miller said in the release.
The crash remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff's Office and the Marinette County Medical Examiner's Office. Also assisting at the site were the Town of Stephenson Fire Department, Twin Bridge Rescue and Oconto Falls Rescue.
