PESHTIGO, Wis. -- Beginning Wednesday, Marinette County Trunk Highway A will be closed to through traffic between Robert Street, in the Village of Crivitz, and County Highway X as part of improving County Highway A.
The closure and posted detour are anticipated to remain in place through Oct. 9.
The closure is being implemented in response to safety concerns in the active work zone.
County Highway A will remain open to local traffic and emergency response agencies only.
The posted detour route for northbound County Highway A traffic will be to follow U.S. Highway 141 northbound from County Highway W to County Highway X westbound to County Highway A.
The posted detour for southbound County Highway A traffic will follow eastbound County Highway X to southbound U.S. Highway 141.
Motorists traveling within the closure area must follow all posted speed limits, traffic-control devices, and instructions from highway flaggers. Restricting through traffic will help reduce conflicts between construction equipment and motorists and allow crews to safely complete the work required for the project, highway officials said.
Motorists should expect delays, allow additional travel time, and follow the posted detour.
Drivers are urged to use extra caution in all construction work zones. Slowing down, staying alert, obeying flaggers, and following posted traffic-control measures are essential to preventing crashes and protecting the lives of workers and motorists, officials said.
