Elliott-Johnson leads Medical Care Access Coalition

KINGSFORD -- Angela Elliott-Johnson is the new executive director of the Medical Care Access Coalition, which assists the uninsured and under-insured in acquiring affordable health care and prescription medications.
Elliott-Johnson succeeds Mylynn Trulock, who directed the program for more than 17 years serving residents of Dickinson and Iron counties and surrounding areas.
The MCAC and its Prescription Assistance Program started in 2004. It's now supported in part by a voter-approved levy in the two counties of 0.1 mills, or 10 cents per $1,000 of taxable value.
MCAC's free services include Medicare and Medicaid counseling as well as connecting qualifying residents with pharmaceutical company programs to lower costs for critical medications.
Elliott-Johnson previously worked for the Dickinson-Iron Community Services Agency for over 32 years as an assistant coordinator and activity director.
The MCAC office is at 2301 Woodward Ave. in Kingsford, with hours of 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The phone number is 906-776-5404.
