MENOMINEE -- Two Menominee men have been charged with aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime.
The cases are separate and were handled by separate news releases from the Michigan State Police.
Alexander Aikman, 28, and Allen Kerby, 45, both were arraigned Wednesday in 95A Judicial District Court of Menominee County.
Aikman is charged with seven counts of child sexually abusive material -- aggravated possession and seven counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
Kerby faces two counts of child sexually abusive material -- aggravated possession and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
Both were taken into custody after an investigation by the state police Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, initiated by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the ICAC Task Force after it was learned that both may have possessed illicit content on the internet. A search warrant was executed on their residences and digital evidence seized.
The ICAC Task Force was assisted by the Menominee County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the Menominee Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations and the Menominee County Sheriff's Department.
