MENOMINEE -- Local nonprofits, schools, government agencies and churches have until midnight Sept. 28 to apply for grants through the M&M Area Community Foundation's annual fall cycle, which opens Aug. 28.

Ten funds will accept applications this year, spanning priorities from youth programming and emergency services to homelessness prevention and community health -- a range that reflects the breadth of donor investment now totaling more than $17.5 million across more than 130 charitable funds.

"Each fund reflects the priorities of our donors and the needs of our communities. Whether you're working in education, health, emergency services, or animal welfare, we encourage you to explore how these funds can help advance your mission," said Kaitlin Deschane, MMACF program and operations director.

Eligible organizations can apply through these funds:

-- Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention;

-- Community Health Care;

-- Crivitz Area Giving Fund;

-- Community-Wide Impact;

-- Peshtigo Area Community Endowment;

-- Twin Counties Emergency Service Providers Philanthropy Fund;

-- Homelessness Prevention Services;

-- Timmie Riley Fund for Fixin' Cats; and

-- Youth Field of Interest.

Beyond grants, MMACF offers nonprofits access to grant-writing assistance, organizational development support and connections through the M&M Area Community Collaborative -- a network of more than 140 organizations serving the region.

"Applying for a grant is one way to work with us -- but it's not the only way," said Ashley Berken, MMACF executive director. "If you're not sure where to start, call us. We'd rather help you find the right fit than have good work go unfunded."

A grant guide and free webinar walk through the application process step by step. Both are available at mmacf.org. Organizations can also contact Kaitlin Deschane at kaitlin.deschane@mmacf.org or 906-864-3599.
