ST. IGNACE -- A Little Lake teen accused of stabbing another 18-year-old male Friday in Mackinac County now faces three felony charges, including attempted murder.
Maxwell Kirk Phillips, 18, was arraigned Monday in 92nd District Court on attempted murder, assault with intent to murder and assault with a dangerous weapon, according to online court records.
Bond was set at $500,000 cash or surety. A probable cause conference was set for 9:30 a.m. Eastern time Sept. 1 and a preliminary exam for 1:30 p.m. Eastern time Sept. 9.
Michigan State Police from the St. Ignace Post were called to Moran Township on Friday a report an 18-year-old had been stabbed after what MSP termed a "verbal altercation," according to a news release. The man was initially treated at Mackinac Straits Health System in St. Ignace before being transferred to McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey, MSP stated in the release. No name or information on his condition was provided.
Phillips is in the Mackinac County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to MSP. The St. Ignace Post was assisted by the St. Ignace Police Department.
