FLORENCE, Wis. -- The public is invited to the next free monthly Outdoor Education Program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, in the lower-level conference room of the Florence Natural Resource building, 5628 Forestry Drive, on the corner of U.S. 2 and Highway 101/70 in Florence.
Richard P. Smith, an outdoor writer and photographer from Marquette, will present "Understanding Black Bears: Their Biology & Life History." He has also written a book with the same title as his PowerPoint presentation. That book and other books he's written about bears and deer hunting can be purchased after his presentation.
The program will include an explanation of what black bears eat, how to spot bear signs, cub production and how to identify bears and their habitats. The last half-hour will be an open forum for questions.
