Cards of Hope events set at Bay campuses

ESCANABA -- The community is invited to take part in the third-annual Cards of Hope: A crafting event to support veterans at Bay College in Escanaba and Iron Mountain.
For the third year, Bay College is partnering with the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center to support veterans. Students, faculty, and staff at Bay College, as well as any interested community members, can make cards that will be included in care packages sent to veterans during National Suicide Awareness Month in September.
"We rarely realize how deeply our actions affect others; even the smallest gesture can have a meaningful impact. These cards are a simple, yet personal way for us to show our love and appreciation for our veterans, reminding them that they are not alone," Suicide Prevention Coordinator Mary Campbell said.
Card-making events will be from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Eastern time Thursday in the Bay College Library on the Escanaba campus, and 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the Lower Commons on the Iron Mountain Campus.
The public is encouraged to drop in during either or both events and get creative to provide hope to veterans through these homemade cards. All card-making supplies will be provided and there will be snacks at both events.
