Labor Day gas fill up to cost about $11 more this year

Labor Day weekend travelers in Michigan will pay about $11 more for a 13-gallon fill up than a year ago, as gasoline prices are up an average of 87 cents from this time last year, according to AAA-The Auto Club Group
Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $4.17 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 11 cents less than this time last month, but still considerably higher than a year ago, AAA said Monday in a news release.
On Labor Day 2025, Michigan's average price of gasoline was $3.30 per gallon.
“Michigan gas prices have remained relatively stable ahead of Labor Day weekend, increasing by just one penny from a week ago,” said Adrienne Woodland, AAA spokesperson. “While this stability is welcome, Michigan drivers will still pay more at the pump this holiday than they did last year.”
In Iron Mountain, some prices Monday were slightly below Wisconsin’s reported average price of $3.83 cents per gallon.
Monday’s AAA national average was listed at $4.08 per gallon.
