New details emerge after Daggett woman sentenced for sexual assault of child

MENOMINEE -- New details have emerged in the case of a Daggett woman who was sentenced this month after pleading guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a person under the age of 13.
The Daily Press reported Rocquel Anne Irving's sentencing on Sept. 9. On Thursday, Menominee County Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey T. Rogg released more information on the case.
Irving, 39, was sentenced in Menominee County 41st Circuit Court on Sept. 4 to 20 years to 60 years in prison, with credit for 219 days' incarcerated, according to court documents.
Rogg announced the sentence follows the sexual assault of Irving's 12-year-old daughter, who endured abuse over several months in late 2025 and early this year.
According to Rogg, the child "came forward with great courage and sacrificed her own privacy to make a permanent change for herself and likely others."
Irving groomed the child with alcohol, drugs and pornography before sexually assaulting her, according to court documents and information presented in open court.
Irving's boyfriend, 45-year-old Travis Scott Thiry, was also reportedly involved in the grooming and assault.
As part of Irving's plea deal, she agreed to testify against Thiry at his upcoming trial, which is set to begin Oct. 12.
Thiry faces 11 felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a person under the age of 13; one felony count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a person under the age of 13; one felony count of conspiracy to commit a legal act in an illegal manner; one felony count of delivering a controlled substance -- a narcotic or cocaine -- to a minor; one felony count of accosting children for immoral purposes; and one misdemeanor count of selling or furnishing alcohol to a minor.
"Ms. Irving is a deeply disturbed, deviant predator," Rogg said. "I have handled severe child sexual abuse cases for 30 years. This behavior causes severe, long-lasting physical and mental health damage to victims, who are always the primary focus of my efforts with a criminal prosecution."
The Menominee County Sheriff's Office conducted a search warrant at a residence in Lake Township on Jan. 28 as part of a criminal sexual conduct investigation. Thiry and Irving were later arrested and lodged at the Menominee County Jail.
