GREENLAND -- A weekend shooting incident in Ontonagon County left a woman injured and a man dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.
A sheriff's deputy was sent just after 5 p.m. Saturday to the 600 block of Depot Street in Greenland Township on a report a resident had been shot. That deputy was able to safely get a female out of the residence and to EMS that had staged away from the site, according to a news release from the Ontonagon County Sheriff's Office.
Other officers located a male on a neighboring property, but after tactically approaching the vehicle found him dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, the news release states.
No names or the condition of the injured female were provided. The incident remains under investigation; the sheriff's office said further details will be released at a later date.
