Stewart receives Bay’s Torch Award for quarter

ESCANABA -- Matt Stewart has been selected as Bay College's Torch Award recipient for the September to November 2026 quarter.

Stewart was hired in 2021 as the TRIO Student Support Services STEM academic advisor. He moved into his role as director of TRIO SSS in 2022.

Supervisors and colleagues have described Stewart as someone who uplifts those around him, supports underserved students, fosters academic growth and inspires confidence in those rebuilding their futures.

The purpose of the TORCH Award is to give personal recognition to those employees on Bay College's campuses dedicated to the mission of the college because of their attitude, commitment and dedication toward the higher education learning environment.

TORCH stands for: Team Player, Outstanding Performance, Responsive to Others, Conscientious to Mission of Bay and Helpful to All.
