The Iron Area Health Foundation has awarded a $2,372.80 grant to the West Iron County Schools to support purchasing a new portable automated external defibrillator, or AED. The portable AED machine will be taken on student field trips, athletic events and other off-campus school activities. It can be a potentially life-saving device for the 700 students and 100 staff members who are on the school campus daily. Shown at the grant check presentation are Kevin Schmutzler, WIC School District superintendent; Chris Kent, IAHF board president; Tess Newby, WIC school nurse; and Lyle Smithson Jr., IAHF director.
