FLORENCE, Wis. -- The public is invited to the next free, monthly Outdoor Education Program on bees, maple syrup, grapes, wine and jelly on Tuesday, Oct. 13, in Florence, featuring Gino Venditti of STAG Farms.
This program will start at 6 p.m. in the lower level conference room at the Florence Natural Resource building, 5628 Forestry Drive, on the corner of U.S. 2 and Highway 101/70 in Florence. Unfortunately, there will be not be a Zoom link on the Florence County Web page.
Venditti started STAG Farms in 2015 in Iron Mountain. He began keeping bees as a hobby and was introduced, through a neighbor, to maple syrup. In 2022, he was recognized as Michigan's Beekeeper of the Year.
"We live in a region that produces some of the best honey in the country. We have been told that our honey is the best that they've ever tasted. We harvest our honey twice per year in late July and again in late August to early September," a spokesperson said.
The last half hour will be an open forum for any questions guests may have. He will also have syrup, jam and jellies for sale after his presentation.
The Florence County monthly Outdoor Education programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Wild Rivers Interpretive Center and University of Wisconsin Extension Florence County. This event is open to the public and free of charge. For more information, contact Joyce Garceau at 715-528-5920 or jgarceau@florencecountywi.gov.
