IRON MOUNTAIN -- Laura Hagan has been selected as the new president of the Iron Mountain Academic Booster Club.
Hagan works as the pupil accountant and enrollment coordinator for Iron Mountain Public Schools. Over the years, she has served the district in many roles, including crossing guard, substitute teacher and assistant to the superintendent. Her family moved here in 2001, her children graduated from IMHS and she has been a dedicated helper in the PTO, Music Boosters and Academic Booster Club ever since.
She is caring, loyal and detail-oriented. She previously was vice president.
"I saw a need and decided to step into it," Hagan said. "I have a great team working alongside me."
For more than 30 years, the Academic Booster Club has helped fund special projects and supplies that are not in the regular school budget. Teachers and principals turn in wish lists and the club works hard to grant as many as possible for the middle and high school students.
This year, Hagan and the team will focus on updating the club's bylaws so they can keep supporting students for years to come.
Parents and community members can help by joining the club or sharing new ideas on making schools even better.
