MENOMINEE -- A 29-year-old Menominee woman who worked as a school bus driver faces up to life in prison after being charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving multiple variables in connection with an investigation into alleged sexual assaults involving children.
Bailee Rae Miller was arraigned Friday in 95-A District Court in Menominee. The charges stem from a Menominee Police Department investigation into alleged sexual assaults reported in the city this month.
"Because this is an ongoing investigation, I urge anyone with additional information to contact the Menominee City Police Department or my office," Menominee County Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey T. Rogg said in a statement to area media.
The Menominee Police Department is at 906-863-5568. The Menominee County Prosecuting Attorney's Office at 906-863-2002.
According to Rogg, Miller worked as a bus driver for Choice Transportation, a company that contracts with Menominee Area Public Schools. Rogg said he expects to file additional charges as police gather more evidence.
Magistrate Todd Roach set Miller's bond at $500,000 cash or surety at Rogg's request. If released on bond, Miller would be prohibited from contacting the alleged victims or anyone younger than age 18.
A conviction for first-degree criminal sexual conduct carries a maximum sentence of life in prison. Those convicted also face mandatory lifetime electronic monitoring and registration as a sex offender.
Court dates for Miller's probable cause conference and preliminary examination have not yet been scheduled.
