One man arrested after serious stabbing in Marquette County

MARQUETTE COUNTY — One man is in custody after a stabbing and assault Friday evening in Marquette County left two injured, one seriously.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post, along with other law enforcement agencies, were called just before 10 p.m. Eastern time Friday to a Chocolay Township residence, according to an MSP news release.

A 36-year-old man reportedly had stabbed a 32-year-old male with a knife during an altercation after allegedly assaulting a juvenile, according to the release. The stabbing victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition with serious injuries. The juvenile had minor injuries.

The 36-year-old is in the Marquette County Jail; his name was not released pending arraignment. The investigation is ongoing, according to MSP.

MSP was assisted by multiple agencies, including Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Tribal Police, Marquette Police Department, Marquette County Sheriff's Office, Chocolay Township Police Department and Marquette County Central Dispatch.
