MUNISING -- The search for an Alger County woman missing since August 2025 will continue later this month as authorities ask volunteers to aid in another ground search.

Volunteers are to meet at 9 a.m. Eastern time Saturday, Oct. 24, at 16 Mile Lake Fire Hall in Munising.

Starla Goings, 65, was last seen on Aug. 15, 2025. Her 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan was found two days later in the vicinity of 16 Mile Lake and M-94.

"We are asking for the community's help as we continue searching for Starla," said Goings' daughter, Stephanie Goings-Rehn. "All volunteers who are physically able to participate are welcome."

Several large-scale searches have been conducted over the past year. According to Goings-Rehn, this search will involve wooded areas and will utilize trained search and rescue teams as well as human remains detection dogs.

Volunteers should come prepared in sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate, brightly colored clothing, bring adequate water and food and leave all dogs, drones and children at home so as to avoid interfering with the HRD dogs and other search efforts.

All questions should be directed to the Alger County Sheriff's Office at 906-387-4444.

"You never know what an extra set of eyes might find and someone out there may have information that could help bring us closer to answers," said Goings' son, Nick Livermore. "We will keep searching. We will keep sharing her story. We will never stop fighting for Starla."
