A shopper’s delight: Big Holiday Craft Show Saturday in Kingsford

By Daily News staff 2 min read

KINGSFORD -- Get into the holiday spirit early at the annual Daily News Newspapers in Education Big Holiday Craft Show on Saturday in Kingsford.

The 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Central time event is expected to draw thousands to Kingsford Middle/High School, 445 Hamilton Ave. Admission is free.

The Big Holiday Craft Show has grown more popular each year, drawing vendors from throughout Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin. This year's show is once again sold out with more than 75 vendors, said Jennifer Flynn, Daily News circulation manager/NIE coordinator.

"Our Big Holiday Craft Show is the local start to a lot of people's Christmas shopping. There is such a variety of items and services all under one roof. Having a concession stand on site helps as well," Flynn said.

Shoppers will find a variety of items this year: Breyer horse models, kitchen towels, upcycled mittens, candles, wax melts, jewelry, knives, pictures, Rada Cutlery, cribbage boards, homemade lotions, soaps, bakery items, jerseys, hats, knitted and crochet items.

The show this year also has a few informational booths as well as groups selling raffle tickets for different events.

A complete list of vendors is on page A8.

This show is a fundraising event that benefits NIE, a non-profit program dedicated to providing area schools with newspapers free of charge that assist teachers and other educators during the school year as a "living textbook," Flynn said.

Concessions, including beefy nachos and hot turkey sandwiches, will be available on site through the Kingsford Music Booster Club until mid-afternoon in the cafeteria. They have added cinnamon rolls and popcorn this year.

Community members are encouraged to come support the vendors and crafters, as well as the music booster club.
