Kathy Calkins

KINGSFORD — Kathy Ann Calkins, 53, of Kingsford, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.

She was born Sept. 22, 1963, in Racine, Wis., daughter of the late James and Sherry Ann (Van Swol) Donaldson. She lived in many places throughout her childhood, finally settling here in the local area. She married Norman Calkins on June 23, 1984, at the Maranatha Assembly of God Church, and they spent more than 33 wonderful years together.

Kathy loved feeding people, and it was very evident, from feeding her family at home or to the many customers she served at the Bagel Shop. It was her true calling. She loved running Superior Bagels and made many friends with patrons at the shop, many who would return for not only great food, but great conversation.

She loved all animals, and took great pride in caring for her dogs and cats at home. She loved time spent with family, especially her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Kathy loved to care for others, putting everyone else’s needs before her own. It was her mission in life to make sure everyone was taken care of.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Norman Calkins of Kingsford; her daughters, Jessica (Keith) Gering of Green Bay, Wis., and Ashley Calkins (Michael Weslin) of Iron Mountain; grandchildren, Brayden, Lily, Alli and Connor Gering and Jake, Alli and Jojo Weslin; her stepmother, Sally Ann Donaldson of Kingsford; brothers and sisters, Kim (Don) Dinnocenzo of Iron Mountain, Jim (Tammy) Donaldson of Glendale, Ariz., Paul (Diane) Donaldson of Iron Mountain, Rich (JoAnn) Donaldson of Kingsford, Scott (Amy) Donaldson of Canton, Ga., Todd (Julie) Donaldson of Aurora, Wis., and Jill (Jim) Hyatt of St. Francis, Wis.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Tom (Lois) Calkins of Kingsford; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and her four-legged children, Lizzy, Bella, Calli, and Alli.
