John G. Rogalski

CRYSTAL FALLS — John G. Rogalski, of Crystal Falls, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau, Wis.

John was born in Thorp, Wis., son of the late John and Evelyn (Ignowski) Rogalski.

He was raised in central Wisconsin and in 1953 joined the United States Marine Corps He served 26 months in combat during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1956.

John married Josephine Grabowski on March 2, 1957, in Gilman, Wis.

He worked in farming and construction for many years. In 1976 he and Josephine moved their family to this area.

John was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Knights of Columbus.

He made the best of every situation. He enjoyed telling stories and making people laugh, often over a game of cards. A skilled wood crafter, he helped others with projects and made benches and tables he would gave away.

John loved fishing, especially casting for bass. Deer and elk hunting were also favorite pastimes. He loved to dance and was famous for the Polish hop. John was an avid bowler and started out as a pin setter in his youth. He was loved and will be missed and remembered.

John was preceded in death by his mother and father; his brothers, Clarence, Stanley and Chester; sisters, Marcella, Eleanor and Betty.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine; his children, Debra (David) Mills of LaCrosse, Wis., Thomas (Tracey) Rogalski of Hayden, Colo., Mark (Carol) Rogalski of Sammamish, Wash., Brenda (Todd) Yost of Yakima, Wash., Linda (Dale) Wodsedalek of Fond du Lac, Wis.,, Vanessa (Shane) McLain of Florence, Wis., and Sherry (Jason) Beames of LaCrosse; brothers, Richard (Geraldine) Rogalski of Tucson, Ariz., Donald (Janet) Rogalski of Thorp, Wis., Frederick Rogalski of Kenosha, Wis., and Robert (Joyce) Rogalski of Stevens Point, Wis.; sister, Alice (Milton) Fojtek of Cicero, Ill.; 15 grandchildren, Dana, Deandrea, Dalton and Dwight Mills; Adam Rogalski; Blake and Colton Rogalski; Shayla and Shamus McLain; Emily Yost; Deric, Dylan and Dawson Wodsedalek; Lauren and Oliver Beames; and one great-granddaughter, Lilly Wodsedalek.

Visitation will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 6 at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. The Eastside Veterans will conduct a Pass in Review at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Fr. Daniel Malone will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
