Theodore "Ted" Hulce

CRYSTAL FALLS — Theodore “Ted” Hulce, 77 of Crystal Falls, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Aspirus Hospital in Iron River. He was born on May 10, 1940, in Crystal Falls, son of the late Mark and Mamie (Koivu) Hulce. He was raised in this area, then moved to Waukegan, Ill., where he worked at Gelrock Beverage for several years, and then for a couple of years in construction, before moving back to Crystal Falls. Ted met and married Elizabeth “Betty” Pizzala while in Waukegan on March 2, 1963, and together they just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

Upon returning home, Ted joined the Laborers Union Local 1329 and worked in construction until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving his time spent bird hunting, deer hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed his time spent at the casino. He was a member of the Alpha Sportsman Club. More than anything, Ted loved spending time with his family and half-grandchildren, Sierra, Jasmine and Riley.

Ted is survived by his loving wife, Betty Hulce of Crystal Falls; a son, Mark Hulce of Crystal Falls; a daughter, Gina (Robert) Reed of Alvin, Wisconsin; his six grandchildren, Joshua Hulce, Marc Heimerl, Aaron Anderson, Ashleigh Anderson, Richard “R.J.” Anderson and Taylor Anderson; six great-grandchildren, Trentin, Aiden, Audriana, Marissa, Liam and Rose-Alex; his sister, Patricia Robichaud of Crystal Falls; a half-brother, Jack Kukura; and half-sisters, Shirley Davidson of Crystal Falls and Sharon Klema of Alpha.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Hulce-Lidbloom; two brothers, Kenneth and James Hulce; a sister-in-law, Rebecca Hulce; two brothers-in-law, Robert Klema and Robert Robichaud.

The visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, May 4 at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Daniel Malone will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
