Maxine O. Knapp

IRON MOUNTAIN — Maxine O. Knapp, 81, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, at home.

Maxine was born on June 15, 1937, in Green Bay, Wis., the daughter of the late David and Ethel (Schmude) Doyle. She was a 1955 graduate of Ontonagon High School.

Maxine was an Upper Peninsula resident her entire life, living in Ontonagon, Amasa and many years in Dickinson County. She worked numerous jobs in the area including many years at Connors/ AGA sports floors in Amasa.

Maxine was an active and dedicated member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Sagola. She also worked at the Sagola Senior Center and was the summer kitchen manager/head cook for Presbytery Point church camp in Michigamme. In addition to being an excellent cook and baker, she was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. She also enjoyed bowling, gardening and knitting. Her greatest joy was time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Maxine is survived by her children, John Knapp of Iron Mountain, Anthony Knapp of Hephzibah, Ga., Tamra (Randy) Brigham of Portage, Wis., Pamela (Danny) Knapp of Manchester, N.H., Frederick Knapp of Iron Mountain and Cassandra (Eric) Dykhuis of Kingsford; brothers, Robert (Kathy) Doyle of Colorado, Larry (Alice) Zimmerman of Maine, Dennis (Sandy) Store of Ontonagon, Terry (Jody) Store of Ononagon and Ricky (Kathy) Store of Maryland; sisters, Susie (Paul) Loukka of Michigan and Sharon Sivert of Minnesota; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Knapp, Krystal (John) Martin, Christopher Knapp, Heather (Joe) Huffman, Brian and Dustin Skibo, Michael and Zachary Stevens, Nicole and Chelsea Knapp and Roman Knapp; seven great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Hunter Featherly, Trent and Logan Martin, Kara and Rylee Huffman, and Brayden Knapp.

In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by a brother, David Doyle; sisters, Sheila Allen and Carol Swanson; and a nephew, Adam Store.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Sept. 19 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Sagola.

Funeral services will follow at noon at the church. Rev. Ryan Flunker will officiate.
