Theodore ‘Ted’ Gronczewski

Theodore 'Ted' Gronczewski

IRON MOUNTAIN — Theodore ‘Ted’ Gronczewski, 95, US Army veteran, beloved husband for 67 years of Beverly J. (nee Markus); loving father of Cathy Johnson, Alex (Don) Christensen, Mary Gronczewski and Chris Gronczewski; devoted son of the late Walter and Alexandra Gronczewski; dear brother of the late Joseph (the late Estyr), Thomas (the late Gladys), Edward (the late Mary), Charles (the late Mary) Gronke, Helen (Erv) Nommensen, Rose (the late Gerry) Malik and Clara (the late Gene) Marshall; fond uncle to many nieces and nephews from California to New York.

Ted was the husband who never forgot a wedding anniversary or Sweetest Day. He was the dad that played baseball in the streets with the neighborhood kids. He was a strict and stoic father who made sure his children were raised with the same moral compass. He went to Sunday Mass faithfully.

Ted served as a member of the Battery D, 485th AAA Battalion Artillery Anti-Aircraft Division in the U.S. and on Okinawa. His honor flight trip in the Fall of 2013 was a wonderful experience that allowed him to bond once again with veterans of WWII and reinforced to him how thankful and proud his country was for his service.

Burial with military honors took place on Oct. 20, 2018, at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, Ill.
