Judith E. Olsen

IRON MOUNTAIN — Judith E. “Judy” Olsen, 88, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at Florence Health Services. She was born on April 23, 1930, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Leslie and Ellen (Juuti) Cootware.

Judy married Roland Olsen in 1950 in a double wedding ceremony with her sister, Jean. They lived in Aurora, Wis., until 1972, and then moved to Iron Mountain, where she has since resided.

Judy was a stay-at-home mom whose top priority was taking care of her family. She kept an immaculate home, made the best homemade bread and always found time to help others.

She was a member of First Covenant Church, where she served as a Sunday school and Bible school teacher, youth group worker and a member of the choir.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Beth (Bob) Swanson of Iron Mountain; her son, Kim (fiancée Jeanette) Olsen of Greenleaf, Wis.; a sister, Victoria “Mickey” Hoffer of Golden Valley, Minn.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland, in 2008; her daughter-in-law, Debby; her sister, Jean; and a brother, David.

In accordance with Judy’s wishes, a private family service will be held.

Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora Cemetery.
