Glenn "Rip" Cagle

IRON MOUNTAIN — Glenn “Rip” Cagle, 60, of Iron Mountain, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 13, 2019, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.

Glenn was born in Stambaugh on March 9, 1959, the son of Forrest “Jack” Cagle and the late Marlene (Goodman) Cagle. He graduated from West Iron County High School in 1978. Glenn married Lori Applin on June 22, 1985, in Iron Mountain at Immaculate Conception Church. They lived in the area for over 30 years, where they raised their two sons.

He and his family owned and operated Cagles Tree Service for the past 9 years. Glenn’s vast experience and talent allowed him to build a successful business where he loved interacting with customers. Prior to that he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic at Road Machinery & Supplies for over fifteen years and at Cummins Diesel. He was hard working and took pride in everything he did, values he taught to his sons.

Glenn loved spending time with his family and friends. His family meant the world to him. They were his life. He was extremely proud of his two sons and their accomplishments. He supported and volunteered in many of their events, including skiing, weight-lifting and martial arts.

He was an avid outdoorsman and truly enjoyed fishing and hunting with his companion “Duke.” He loved gardening, canning, riding his side-by-side and going to auctions with his wife.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Caren Cagle and Kaylene Seymour.

He is survived by his wife, Lori; his sons, Shawn and Chad; his father, Jack of Black River Falls, Wis.; and his sister, Julaine Cagle of Iron River; as well as several extended family members and friends.

“You were my best friend, my confidant, my strength. We will miss you deeply. Our hearts are broken.”

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, May 20 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.

A memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 6 p.m. Reverend Henry Yoap will officiate.
