Helen J. Richardson

Helen was born on March 25, 1923, in Elton, Wis., daughter of the late John and Lulah (Manning) Goberville. She grew up in the Antigo, Wis., area and came to Amasa in 1944 to work for her Aunt Rose at the Amasa Hotel and raise her son Dale.

They moved to central Indiana in 1963 and returned to Amasa in 1970 after her aunt’s death.

Helen had resided at the Maple Apartments for years until 2003 when she moved to Crystal Manor. In 2005 she relocated to the Iron County Medical Care Facility and has resided there since.

In her younger years, Helen enjoyed bowling and reading. During her stay at Iron County Medical Care Facility, she enjoyed going to camp outings with the residents and cooking and serving meals with her cooking group.

Helen is survived by her son, Dale Richardson of Amasa; grandsons, Christopher Richardson of Amasa and Craig Richardson of Iron River; great-granddaughters, Amy, Ava and Aubrey Richardson; and great-great-granddaughter, Vivian Rose, who was born on May 20, 2019.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, May 31 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Amasa. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Bruce Tusa will officiate. Burial will be in the Hematite Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the Northwoods Animal Shelter or Iron County Medical Care Facility Christmas gifts for residents.
