Melissa "Mel" A. Denzer

VULCAN — Melissa “Mel” A. Denzer, 33, Vulcan, passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 6, 2019.

She was born on Nov. 12, 1985, in Marquette, daughter of Scott and Laureen (Poisson) Denzer.

Mel graduated from North Central Area High School and went on to attend Ferris State University and Northern Michigan University, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree. She always had a strong passion for animals. Mel was committed to helping animals in distress and never gave up on them. Her pride and joy were her two dogs: Cash and Dennis.

Mel was an artistic soul who put her creativity into crocheting and dream catchers, among many other things. She had a green thumb and was an excellent gardener.

Mel suffered from chronic pain for many years and finally found her peace.

She is survived by her parents, Laureen Poisson and Scott Denzer; sister, Kristin Denzer, and niece and nephew: Taylor and Trey Blair; grandparents, Merle and Darlene Denzer; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Melissa was preceded in death by her sister, Jessica Denzer.

Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Central time Friday, June 14 at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding.

A celebration of her life will follow visitation at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with family members speaking about Melissa.

Burial will take place in the Spalding Township Cemetery.
