IRON MOUNTAIN — Rose Marie Fontecchio, 75, of Iron Mountain, passed away Friday, July 5, 2019, with her family by her side.

She was born on Feb. 20, 1944, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Romualdo and Laura (Nardecchia) Fontecchio. Rose Marie grew up in Spread Eagle, Wis., and graduated from Florence High School.

She married Dale Taff on Feb. 27, 1965, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Rose Marie was a dedicated mother who enjoyed picking berries and finding and collecting antiques from auctions and garage sales. While raising her sons she attended Bay de Noc Community College’s Nursing Program where she received her LPN in the early ’80s. She worked for over 10 years with her mother Laura, managing the El Capitan Supper Club in Spread Eagle. Rose Marie later worked along with her son, Damian for 19 years at Damian’s Pasta Works. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain.

Rose Marie enjoyed crafts, making dolls, bears, dried flowers, pottery, wood-burning pictures, oil painting, making clothes, pillows, blankets, quilts, and macramé. She loved her family, cooking, making cakes, and especially the time spent with her grandchildren.

Rose Marie is survived by two sons, Damian (Tania) Taff, Spread Eagle and Darren (Margaret) Taff, Iron Mountain; one sister, Anna Cory, Iron Mountain; eight grandchildren Natasha (Brett) Kramer, Austin, Alicia, Alex, Cassandra, Nikki, Alyssa and Joe; six great-grandchildren Abishae, Gabriel, Ellie, Lance, Isabella and Zoe.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers Leo, Guido, Bill and Robert Fontecchio; and one sister Lena Francis.

Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 10 at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain.

Prayers will be recited at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain.

Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain
