Edward Laesch

VULCAN — Edward “Buck” Laesch, 99, of Faithorn, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.

He was born in Bloomington, Ill., on June 3, 1920, son of the late Herman and Hazel (Kagel) Laesch.

Buck served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

He married LaVerne Meiner on Sept. 29, 1945, at Grace Methodist Church in Faithorn. She preceded him in death on Aug. 12, 2016.

Buck worked as an orderly at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center until retirement and had his own dairy and beef cattle farm in Vulcan.

He enjoyed hunting and going to camp. He especially loved his farm and spending time with his family.

Buck is survived by his daughter, Linda (Wayne) Rochon of Hermansville; son, Dale (Diane) Laesch of Faithorn; grandchildren, Catherine Rochon of Norway, Cynthia Dunlap of Wyoming, Mich., Cheryl Rochon of Powers and Marc Rochon of McAllen, Texas; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Melanie Kurth, Caleb Stachowicz, Parker and Gabriella Dunlap; brother-in-law, Ralph (Marge) Meiner of Norway; sisters-in-law, Eleanor LeBoeuf of Powers and Patricia Meiner of Powers; and many nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his brothers, Elmer and Howard Laesch; and sisters, May Miller and Margaret Rader.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Norway.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with Rev. Dr. Michael J. Langlais officiating.

Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Faithorn.
