CONNIE LYNN VANOSS

CHANNING — Connie Lynn VanOss, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, Sept. 6, 2019.

She was born on Feb. 28, 1949, to Orval and Mary VanOss. She attended Channing High School, where she met her husband, Dale Smith.

Connie was a devoted daughter, wife, sister, mother and grandmother. She loved being with her family, especially when she was beating them at the smear table.

Connie had many roles and achievements throughout her life, which included owning a restaurant, being a substitute special education teacher, a foster mother and a director and counselor at St. Martin DePorres House of Hope in Chicago.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughters, Carrie Smith and Geraldine Bandt; her brother-in-law, David Mulder; and her nephew, Brandon.

Connie is survived by her children, Sue Ellen Smith, Damien Smith, Cammie Smith, Danielle (Steve) Coonrod and Josh Kurz; her grandchildren, Dale Andrea Smith, Donny (Zuzana) Johnson, Benjamin (Markus) Hughes, Kay Cee Smith, Hannah (Alex) Wolfe, Alex Paquin, Maxwell Smith, Nikolas Stephens, Tessa Bartoszek and Isaiah Smith; her great-grandchildren, Drake Rouse, Nash Rouse, Eli Johnson, Ella Johnson and Baby Wolfe; her siblings, Claudia Garland, Barb Fredericksen, Kristine Mulder, Judy Peterson, Kelly (Bruce) Schlei-VanOss, Clint (Char) VanOss and Donny (Rachel) VanOss; as well as many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

A small memorial will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at 207 Bell Ave., Channing, MI.
