Susan L. Holmes

Susan was born Oct. 25, 1953, in Norway, the daughter of Lillian (Edict) Leonard and the late Cyril Leonard. Susan graduated from Pembine High School with the Class of 1971 and went on to attend cosmetology school. On Oct. 6, 1973, she married the love of her life, Gregory Holmes in Pembine, Wis., and they spent the next 46 years together.

Susan was employed at the Niagara Area Credit Union for several years before taking a position as a loan officer at the First National Bank of Niagara where she spent nearly 20 years, retiring in 2016. She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church in Niagara. Susan was an avid bowler and bowled in the Ladies Majors every Tuesday for many years. She loved the annual family shopping trip that she took with her mother, aunts and cousins for the last 21 years. Susan also enjoyed taking side-by-side rides with her husband, snowmobiling, and spending time at her family’s lake cottage “Lily’s Pad.” Her number one priority was family, and she loved nothing more than spending time with them.

She is survived by her husband, Greg; children, Abraham (Jessica) Holmes of Racine, Wis., Keith (Tanya) Holmes of Niagara and Jessica (Nicholas) Demko of Homestead, Wis.; 15 grandchildren, Avianna, Maxwell, Cody, Tayven, Abraham, Abigail, Destany, Trentan, Blake, Eastan, Mylann, Kamber, Mason, Janssen and Kassady; brothers, Dan (Mary) Leonard of Prescott, Ariz., Dennis Leonard of Hartford and Daryl (Christy) Leonard of Rhinelander, Wis.; her mother, Lillian Leonard (special friend Bud) of Wausaukee, Wis.; and aunts, cousins and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Cyril Leonard; a son, Clint Holmes; and many other loved ones.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.

Services will follow at 4 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Pastor Walter Reichle will officiate.

A meal will follow at Riverside United Methodist Church in Niagara for family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Coats of Many Colors in Niagara.
