Jean L. Hiatt

Kingsford — Jean L. Hiatt, 92, of Kingsford, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019, at Evergreen Assisted Living in Kingsford.

Jean was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Menominee, daughter of the late Raymond and Elsie (Walk) Michaelis. She graduated from Marinette High School in 1945.

Jean married Kenneth Hiatt on Dec. 7, 1946, in Marinette and they moved to Iron Mountain in 1950.

She worked as a payroll clerk at Grede Foundry for several years, retiring in 1979. Jean enjoyed crafts, sewing, quilting, and was a member of the Spinning Spools Quilting Club.

She also enjoyed square dancing with her husband, Ken, and playing bingo with her friends at Evergreen. Most of all, Jean loved spending time with family.

Jean is survived by two sons, Lynn “Butch” (Marian) Hiatt of Iron Mountain and Mike (Carla) Hiatt of Granite Bluff; five grandchildren, Eric (Heather) Hiatt, Brent (Jaime) Hiatt, Kate (Josh) Jacobs, Tracy (Jim) Anderson and Alex Hiatt (Stephanie Kucej); three great-grandchildren, Jack and Jane Anderson, and Colten Hiatt; and nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Ken in 2012.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Michael March will officiate.

Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens.

Jean’s grandsons, Eric, Brent and Alex Hiatt, Jim Anderson and Josh Jacobs will serve as honorary pallbearers.
