Marjorie C. Frankini

IRON MOUNTAIN — Marjorie C. “Marge” Frankini, 97, a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain until 2014, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, at the Seasons at Maplewood Center in Maplewood, Minn.

Marge was born Oct. 9, 1922, in Iron Mountain, daughter of Lorenzo and Adeline Quadrani. She graduated in 1941 from Iron Mountain High School.

After graduation, Marge attended schools in Chicago and Minneapolis with a focus on nursing and medical technology. After returning from Minneapolis, she began working at Frankini Jewelry Store and married the boss’s son, Art Jr., in 1947.

Marge was very active in the community, serving on both the Iron Mountain School Board and Community School Board. She was president of the Hospital League and volunteered every Tuesday in the emergency room for 40 years.

An avid card player she enjoyed playing with family and was a duplicate bridge master, her other great passion. She loved going on the bus to the Casino and would bring her baked goodies to her bus buddies, as she loved to bake. She belonged to the Pine Grove Country Club, Red Cross, and St. Mary and St. Joseph Parish.

Her wit and keen sense of humor could rival that of her husband’s.

She is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Louis) of St. Paul, Minn., and Pamela Frankini of Kingsford; two grandsons, Nick (Dunia) and Brian (Maddie) Cristan; one great-grandchild, Lucia; sister-in-law, Rita Sica of Palm City, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Marge is preceded in death by sisters, Anne Petrus, Angeline Muzzy, Eleanor Sovey, Jeanette Butsic, Anthony Quadrani and Rosemary Quadrani.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.

Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary & St. Joseph Church. Fr. Mark McQuesten will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Cemetery Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice in Marge’s memory are preferred.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at Ecumen Seasons at Maplewood and Ecumen Hospice, who cared for her with so much love these past five years and in her final days.
