Ann Sturm-Buys

She was born May 26, 1924, in Spalding, the daughter of the late Anton and Anna (Krish) Decker.

Ann met and fell in love with Leo A. Sturm, they were married on Feb. 12, 1947, in Powers and made their home in Norway. He preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 1993.

For most of Ann’s life, she ran her own beauty shop out of her home. She loved family, friends, flowers and good food. Ann was an excellent cook and also loved going to the casino.

Ann married Frank Buys in April 2000. He preceded her in death on April 6, 2019.

She is survived by her children, Leo “Bob” (Jill) Sturm, Louis (Beth) Sturm and Larry Sturm; daughter, Mary (Doc) Sturm; grandchildren, Laura (Craig) Gronda, Marc VanEynde, Chad (April) VanEynde, Luke VanEynde, Matthew (Jill) Sturm, Marisa (Jared) Sturm, Taylor (Michelle Indiano) Sturm and Kalina (Walter) Ziller; 18 great-grandchildren, with the 19th due in May; son-in-law, Donald VanEynde; sisters, Rose DePew and Gertrude (Walter) Servia; brother, Clarence (Irene) Decker; step-children, Dan (Sandy) Buys and Canara (Carl) Buys; and many nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her daughter, Christine VanEynde; sister, Mary Pilch; brothers, Edward, Joe and Anton “Timmy” Decker.

Family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14 at St. Mary’s Church in Norway.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at the church, with Fr. Timothy Ekaitis, presiding.

Interment will be held at the Norway Township Cemetery in the spring.
